JonOne biography:
John Andrew Perello, better known as JonOne, is a Dominican-born graffiti artist and painter. He was born in New York in the 1960s and grew up in the vibrant Harlem neighborhood. At seventeen, he began tagging trains and walls in his neighborhood, marking his start in graffiti. Self-taught, he later moved to a new medium: the canvas.
Gradually, he moved from the street to the galleries, and his works are now exhibited worldwide. His creations are deeply influenced by his personal journey, immersed in hip-hop, urban culture, and the New York subway.
His style, at once instinctive and thoughtful, transcends the classical rules of graffiti and street art. He advocates complete freedom in the act of creation, thus developing a “freestyle” painting, liberated from formal or narrative constraints.
In 1987, JonOne settled in Paris. This move marked a decisive turning point. From then on, he dedicated himself fully to conquering the canvas.
In his works, space is saturated. Void does not exist. Color becomes a vital energy. His palette, rich and contrasted, expresses subtle plays of light and matter.
He quickly made a name for himself in the Paris art scene. He captivates critics and collectors alike.
Today, his renown extends far beyond specialized circles. Indeed, he has collaborated with major brands such as Lacoste, Hennessy, Air France, and Perrier.
