Description from the seller
Lot of 2 Antique Brass Containers – Cylindrical Field Bottle & Oval Flask
An attractive lot comprising two brass containers, likely dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, both displaying a rich, untouched patina that enhances their historical character.
The first object is a tall cylindrical brass bottle (32 cm high, 9.5 cm diameter), featuring a narrow neck and an integrated suspension lug. Its form and construction suggest a practical utilitarian purpose, possibly as a field or travel container for water, oil, or similar liquids. Such pieces are often associated with industrial, military, or expedition use, where durability and portability were essential.
The second piece is an oval-shaped brass flask (approx. 25 cm long, 18 cm wide, 13 cm high), fitted with a screw cap and retaining ring. The flattened, ergonomic form is characteristic of traditional portable flasks used during travel. The visible seam and straightforward construction reflect functional craftsmanship.
Both objects show age-related wear, including surface scratches, small dents, and oxidation. The patina has developed naturally over time and has not been polished, preserving their authenticity and appeal to collectors.
Dimensions:
• Cylindrical bottle: height 32 cm, diameter 9.5 cm
• Oval flask: approx. 25 × 18 × 13 cm
Condition:
Good overall condition with wear consistent with age and use. Structurally sound, with no significant damage or repairs.
Material: Brass
Period: Late 19th – early 20th century.
A decorative and historically evocative set, ideal for collectors of antique utilitarian objects, travel memorabilia, or industrial artefacts.
The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered post with a track and trace number. It can also be collected from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
