The Vigil - Hand signed is a 40x40 cm giclée print on canvas by French artist Le Yack (Alexandre Pelletier), edition limited to 20 numbered copies, dated 2026, signed by the artist, sold directly from the artist with a certificate of authenticity, produced in France in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
On a New York fire escape, a woman in a red dress lies abandoned on the floor — asleep, dreaming, or perhaps beyond any urgency. Down below, in the alley bathed in cold blue light, two silhouettes look up at her: a woman in a dark coat, a hand to her visor, and a man in a beige trench coat, a felt hat on his head, a cigarette between his fingers. They could be detectives, lovers, witnesses or accomplices. We will not know.
The impeccable geometry of the iron stairs casts its grid shadows on the bluish-gray brick like a cage or a musical staff. The red of the dress is the sole warmth in a tableau entirely built on cold, mystery, and the distance between beings.
Le Yack evokes here the aesthetics of American film noir in all its rigor — Chandler, Wilder, Hopper — but really a pure painting, with no imposed narrative. Who is upstairs? Who are those down below? The spectator becomes the third gaze, the one observing from the street, without a key.
