Description from the seller

Natali Wood (Spain, 1978)
Almendro Formas – Black ink engraving on rice paper

Original graphic work by Spanish artist Natali Wood, created through an artisanal engraving process from a wooden matrix worked with the Japanese technique Yakisugi (Shou Sugi Ban).

In this process the surface of the wood is lightly carbonized by fire, which allows the natural grain structure to be revealed and accentuated. Subsequently the matrix is inked by hand and printed onto delicate rice paper, capturing the organic texture of the wood with great depth and contrast. This traditional Japanese technique, historically used to treat wood, provides a very distinctive aesthetic where the material and the passage of time are visible in the final image.

The result is a composition of strong visual impact in charcoal-black ink, where the form of the tree emerges from the real grain of the wood. The work reflects Natali Wood's interest in manual processes, nature, and the transformation of natural materials into an artistic language.

Each impression features slight variations inherent to the manual printing process, lending a unique character to each copy of the edition.

The small irregularities inherent to rice paper and to the manual printing process are part of the artisanal character of the work.
