Two parasols — one red, one yellow — planted in the white sand at the bottom of the frame. Two tiny silhouettes sit beneath them, back to us, facing a cobalt-blue sea. Above them, three-quarters of the canvas belong to the sky, invaded by cumulonimbus clouds of sculptural, architectural, almost living whiteness.
Le Yack here achieves a radical reversal: what should be the subject — the characters, the beach — is relegated to colored punctuation. It is the sky that reigns, immense, theatrical, indifferent to human smallness. And yet these two spots of color, red and yellow, are enough to tell of a presence, a companionship, a summer.
Le Yack, a rising French pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, aka Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design (ESAD) in Orléans. He is a creative director in publishing and on the web. Instagram @leyack45. He is exhibited in a network of about forty galleries in France, Germany, Belgium, and the United States.
