Description from the seller
A young woman leans over the edge of a basin, her face within a few centimeters of the water. She does not look at the sky, nor the shore—she looks at herself. Her reflection shimmers under her fingers like another version of herself, distorted and yet more real. The yellow polka-dot dress on a red background creates a color clash that the deep blue of the background absorbs and soothes.
Le Yack revisits here the Narcissus myth with a tenderness that the pictorial tradition often denies him. It is not vanity that is painted, it is the curiosity about oneself—the silent question each person directs to their own reflection. The impressionist touch on the water contrasts with the precision of the profile, creating a tension between the real and its image.
Le Yack, emerging French pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, known as Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours.
