Description from the seller
A single leaf from a Qur'an of the late Timurid Empire of central Asia (1370-1507) c1460, contains the final verses of the Meccan Chapter 55, Ar-Rahman (The most Compassionate), which is renowned for its rhythmic beauty and for repeating the verse: "So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny?" (فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ). It is repeated 31 times throughout the Surah, often after describing the blessings of Allah, such as the creation of the heavens and earth, the provision of food, and the description of Paradise.
This folio contains v.60-78, and contains the Surah of chapter 56, Al-Waqi'ah. 4 super illuminated marginal juz mark the verses 60, 65, 70 and 75. The Surah repeatedly highlights these blessings to encourage gratitude and to remind both humans and jinn of Allah's mercy.
The 10 lines of scripture are written in elegant Nashki in black, and contain diacritical red markings for devotees to follow when reading the scripture and simple gold verse markings (aya). The calligrapher was forced to add one verse into the margial space in order to accommodate the Surah.
PLEASE NOTE. Shipping costs are not solely the cost of the delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the delivery agent for processing.
