Marc Gonz's way of working consists in burying layer upon layer; in this process of burial, a face is formed, part of the disorder and error in order to find harmony. Marc Gonz's works, through matter and color, present us with a distorted version of reality. The brutality and density of the brushstroke reveal a visceral work, sometimes grotesque and primal, but at the same time it expresses deep emotions, which recall the ancestral, the spiritual, going to the essence without artifices, an excavation of the soul. With a blend of abstraction and expressionism, they create a transformation of the human form, where its meaning is transcended.
