Description from the seller
Gitanilla, oil on canvas by Francisco Benítez Perea (Morón, Seville, Spain. 1940-2008). Painter descendant and prominent figure of the Seville school in the second half of the 20th century, alongside Monedero, Ressendi, Manuel Flores, A. Rodrigues Almanza... and founder of the Morón de la Frontera School of Painting. Seville.
He was a notable painter with works spanning various periods and styles: magical realism, realist genre scenes, social denunciation... A representative painter of the golden era of Flamenco in Morón during the 1960s-1970s through his Andalusian avant-garde, a major precursor of Antonio Adelardo García's style. He has won several national and international awards and exhibited nationally and internationally. This work belongs to the traditional realist series, a style he practiced after returning from Catalonia to his hometown for the national decoration market during the late 1970s.
