One volume in-8 (190x120 mm), full calf, spine smooth ornamented, title piece in red morocco, red edges (binding of the period). Upper edge of the first board slightly cracked, corners worn. Interior fresh, no foxing.
Complete and carefully annotated edition of the works of the Latin poet Horace. It brings together all of his writings, including his Odes, Epodes, Satires, Epistles as well as his Ars Poëtica.
This edition is distinguished by its rigorous philological approach, based on the comparison of 76 manuscripts to establish a text faithful and precise. In addition to the texts themselves, it offers several aids to facilitate reading and understanding: a chronology of Roman events contemporary with Horace, a treatise on the metrical patterns used by Horace, as well as a dictionary of the words found in Horace.
