Description from the seller
It is a clock that very well captures that spirit of a Louis XV reinterpretation, where the curve rules, the decoration becomes almost theatrical, and the everyday scene adds a narrative touch that humanizes the piece. The whole is made in bronze, with rich modelling of volutes, leaves and reliefs that envelop the base as if it were a small stage. At the top, seated naturally, appears the shepherd, a classic figure of the Rococo imagination: young, relaxed, with his staff and that kind, friendly attitude that evokes the bucolic life idealized by the eighteenth century.
The clock proper is integrated into the composition as a central medallion, with its dial in Roman numerals and an ornate surround that dialogues with the rest of the bronze. Although the aesthetics clearly recall Louis XV, the piece dates from the mid-twentieth century, a moment when many European workshops revived these models to create decorative clocks with great presence. The mechanism, updated to quartz, guarantees precise operation without altering the historical appearance of the whole.
The result is a decorative object with charm, combining Rococo fantasy with contemporary practicality, perfect for those seeking a piece with character but not willing to sacrifice current reliability.
