Guardava il mare e respirava azzurro
He looked at the sea and breathed blue.
Guardava oltre nell'attraversare il “senza fine” , oltre i nostri piccoli orizzonti. il mare lo contemplava,accarezzando le onde con lo sguardo muto. Ha salvato poveri ignari dalle onde mortali, pochi riconoscono il suo coraggio di uomo, quel coraggio che rende la vita una cosa minuscola e spinge al sacrificio ultimo. Guardava il mare e abbandonava nel vento segreti e pensieri.
He looked beyond, crossing the “endless” beyond our small horizons. The sea contemplated him, caressing the waves with a silent gaze. He saved poor ignorant people from deadly waves; few recognize his courage as a man, that courage that makes life a tiny thing and drives to the ultimate sacrifice. He looked at the sea and entrusted secrets and thoughts to the wind.
Intravedeva nell’aria densa di salsedine, le scelte, gli amori, gli errori irreparabili, le gioie improvvise che illuminava il suo sguardo.
He glimpsed in the air thick with salt the choices, loves, irreparable mistakes, the sudden joys that illuminated his gaze.
Arreso, giunto alla superba conclusione che non c’è “differenza alcuna tra il guidare i popoli o ubricarsi da solo”.

Sereno, respirava nel vento, èra solo, in pace con sé e con il resto del mondo. Per un’impresa sola, smetterebbe di guardare questo mare, volgendo le spalle alle onde.
Calm, he breathed in the wind, he was alone, at peace with himself and with the rest of the world. For one single undertaking, he would stop looking at this sea, turning his back to the waves.
Per un grande amore sfiderebbe ogni limite,

Per un grande amore finirebbe la sua tregua, oserebbe ancora quel tuffo impavido nell’altro.
For a great love he would end his truce, would dare again that fearless plunge into the other.
Perché il suo cuore èra puro, invincibile e pieno di un’insolita luce, come il mare.
Because his heart was pure, invincible and full of an unusual light, like the sea.
