Antique Chimneypiece - First half 20th century - fireplace screen

This object is an antique copper- or brass hearth screen.
The screen features a detailed scene that is embossed in relief (repoussé technique) in the metal.
Such screens were often used as decorative fireplace accessories in the 20th century.
In addition to its decorative function, the screen served to keep sparks at bay and to protect furniture from the heat of the open fireplace.
Overall it is in reasonably good condition with some signs of wear appropriate to its age and use, but presumably missing a hanging ring.
