Description from the seller
High-quality giclée mounted on a wooden frame - Hand-signed and numbered - 2026
Signed work by Medsan, an artist member of Atelier Joconde, renowned for his reappropriations of cultural icons and bold stylistic fusions.
In this spectacular creation titled "The King", Medsan signs a masterful mashup between the legendary world of Western rock-and-roll music and the traditional aesthetics of Japanese printmaking (Ukiyo-e). The work is a high-quality giclée print, perfectly capturing the look of classic woodblock engraving.
The piece features the central male figure, identifiable as Elvis Presley, "The King" himself, recognizable by his face and famous banana haircut. He is dressed in an ornate Japanese-style robe, fusing his iconic gold-studded style with intricate embroideries of peacocks and gold threads, positioning him as a shōgun or a high-ranking noble. He holds a Japanese fan bearing the rising sun motif in red. He is surrounded by four Japanese women in geisha or traditional courtesan attire (colorful kimonos, elaborate hairstyles). Two kneel and gaze at him with admiration, while another adjusts his robe. The background is an opulent interior of a Japanese audience hall (zashiki) with patterned ceiling panels, a gold backdrop, shōji screens, tatami mats, and hanging scrolls of Japanese calligraphy and wall paintings.
Note the authentic detail of the signature "Medsan" calligraphed in Japanese characters (katakana) in a traditional cartouche located at the top right of the composition (メドサン), as well as the artist’s manual signature and numbering on the back.
An epic, dramatic, and deeply original work, ideal for a collector who appreciates contemporary Pop Art, musical culture, and Japanese aesthetics.

About Atelier Joconde:
Atelier Joconde is a workshop bringing together artists around a living, plural contemporary creation. Established as a true production space for art, the studio operates both in collective creation and individual approaches, depending on projects and artworks. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realist influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, naïve art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
