Vincenzo Raimondo - Mori

In this diptych dedicated to the Moors, the artist presents a new interpretation of an iconic subject of the Sicilian tradition, confirming a stylistic research in continuous evolution. The figures, deliberately stylized and devoid of superfluous details, become essential and immediately recognizable, allowing for a more emotional than descriptive reading.

The uniform gray background creates a neutral base that enhances the color contrast of the main elements. The “suns” behind the subjects, made in shades of red, yellow and orange, recall the warm colors of the Sicilian land, evoking its intensity, light and character.

The Moors stand out for a lively and harmonious palette, in which each color contributes to defining the identity of the work without burdening it. The black, decisive and continuous stroke is not just a graphic element, but becomes an integral part of the artistic language: it outlines the shapes and at the same time suggests a narrative, a fragment of life suspended between tradition and contemporary reinterpretation.

Vincenzo Raimondo is an Italian artist based in Palermo. His research develops between material abstraction and figuration, in a journey free from fixed schemas.
His work arises from the observation of everyday reality, transformed into essential and direct images, where color and form become immediate expressive tools.

Awards and career
In 2015 and 2016 he was a finalist in the Sunday Painters competition promoted by La Stampa, within the Artissima context (Turin), among thousands of participants.
In 2016 he received the Critics Award, a recognition that marked an important moment in defining his artistic language.

Series and language
His production is articulated in several series, including Fly, in which he explores the theme of lightness and freedom through minimalist and poetic compositions.
Alongside this, he develops works that reinterpret elements of Sicilian culture in a contemporary key, together with more abstract and material works.

Each work is a unique piece, created through a process that unites instinct and experimentation, not seeking perfection but with attention to the expressive strength of the sign.
