Description from the seller

Up for auction is a nice antique 4/4 violin for professional musician or collector. The label says: Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi, nella Contrada di Santa Margarita, al Segno della Sirena, Milano 1768. The instrument remains in good condition with some tears and wears but no cracks. This is a superb sounding instrument, also very beautiful in appearance. Nice and clean made inlaid purfling. The scroll is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The original varnish of golden brown reddish color over lighter ground with tears and wears. The narrow flamed one piece maple back measures 359 mm. The total length of the violin is 590 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 163 mm; middle bouts: 113 mm; lower bouts: 200 mm. Beautiful model with a very elegant natural amber patina, very high quality of woods, perfect details all over. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich, warm, sweet and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power. Shipping worldwide insured!

Violins and bows described as 'certified' or 'attributed' include images of their certificates and are therefore considered to have a higher degree of documented certainty regarding maker, origin, and age than instruments described only as 'labelled' (violins) or 'stamped' (bows), for which we provide no guarantee of any kind
