Giovanni Contardi's unique wall-mounted work Rubik's Cube Mosaic - Chromatic Modules II (Concentric Structure), 2026, made from 48 original Rubik’s Cubes on an MDF panel, hand-signed on the reverse, with a certificate of authenticity, dimensions 34.3 × 45.8 × 7.8 cm, weight 6.3 kg, ready to hang with a concealed French cleat, sold direct from the artist.
Description from the seller
Chromatic Modules II (Concentric Structure) is a unique wall-mounted work composed of original Rubik’s Cubes, part of the Chromatic Modules body of work.
The composition is constructed through a strict rule-based system, where each cube functions simultaneously as pixel and object. Concentric organisation emerges from repetition and constraint, generating a controlled visual field.
Colour is treated as structure rather than decoration, producing rhythm and spatial tension within the grid.
The work oscillates between image and object: a coherent optical presence at a distance, and a fragmented material system at close range.
Unique piece.
Hand-signed on the reverse.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity with archival hologram.
The work is ready to hang and fitted with a concealed French cleat mounting system. It will be professionally packed and shipped.
Giovanni Contardi is an Italian artist internationally recognised for his mosaics created entirely from original Rubik’s Cubes. His work transforms one of the most iconic objects of the 20th century into a contemporary artistic medium defined by a distinctive, recognisable visual language.
His relationship with the Rubik’s Cube began in 2009 through competitive speedcubing, where he developed a high level of technical mastery. In 2013, he began translating this expertise into Rubik’s Cube mosaics, and by 2018 this exploration had evolved into a full-time artistic practice, gaining international attention across the fields of contemporary art, design, and pop culture.
Selected Installations and Recognition:
His installations are permanently exhibited at the Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel (Disneyland Paris) and at the Rossini National Museum in Italy. His contribution to the development of “Rubik Cubism” has been recognised internationally, including a mention by Ernő Rubik, inventor of the Rubik’s Cube, in his autobiographical book Cubed: The Puzzle of Us All (2020).
Selected works, installations, and process documentation are shared on Instagram under the name JVENB.
