Description from the seller
I. Arias is a contemporary artist whose painting practice centers on the exploration of the human figure with introspective and symbolic sensitivity, with a particular focus on oil underwater painting. Her work has transcended the local sphere, taking part in exhibitions and events in different international contexts, with presence in countries such as Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, Mexico, as well as in various cities across the United States.
Throughout her career, she has been recognized with awards and distinctions that support the solidity of her artistic proposal and her commitment to a coherent visual language that is continually evolving. Her work sits at a convergence between the technical and the emotional, building images that address the human condition from an intimate perspective, where the body and the environment become vehicles of meaning.
This painting builds an emotional portrait more than a figurative one, where the human presence appears as a silhouette and memory, not as a concrete identity. The female figure, viewed in profile and in shadow, faces a nocturnal urban setting diluted in lights and reflections, treated with a loose, atmospheric brushstroke that brushes against the abstract.
The contrast between the intimate darkness of the foreground and the vibrant glow of the background creates a poetic tension between interior and exterior, silence and noise, introspection and movement. The urban lights —almost dematerialized— function as symbols of the contemporary world: speed, transit, constant stimulation, in contrast to the reflective stillness of the individual.
The work stands out for its expressive use of color, where cool blues and purples are pierced by warm yellows and oranges, creating a visual rhythm that recalls nocturnal perception and the sensory experience of the city. The visible brushwork and controlled impasto reinforce the sense of a moment, like a memory that fades as it still burns.
Conceptually, the painting speaks of contemplation, urban solitude, and inner pause, becoming an open work, where the viewer projects their own emotional narrative.
