Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images

Multidisciplinary visual artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on the gaze, presence and perception of the image in the urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetic of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.

New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons

The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a richness of visual details. Each fragment acts like a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the represented subject. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. A thorough study is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.

Career

Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer and guitarist, he is currently performing with the band FRENZY.
