Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images

Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first made himself known through a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This research around gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Then, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.

New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons

The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artist's universe of the subject represented. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. A thorough work is done on colors, light and overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent way.

Parcours

Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as an author and musician including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
