Description from the seller

David Law

Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images

Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops a body of work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This investigation into gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.

Series - Faces in Transition

This series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of 1950s/60s pin-up aesthetics through a modern visual approach. Each work is created using current digital tools, then refined to integrate a pictorial material inspired by oil painting. Elements of pop art and street art — drips, textures and collages — enrich the composition while preserving legibility of the subject. The overall effect creates a balance between classic elegance and contemporary visual energy, capturing moments of life that are at once light and expressive.

Edition & Manufacture

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated back mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.

Profile

Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical project including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
