Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images

An interdisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.

Series - Connected absence

A series of documentary images showing everyday scenes where humans no longer have a face, replaced by a screen. These screens continuously display streams of content, as if thought and attention were entirely absorbed. The series questions the silent disappearance of gaze, exchange and human presence.

Edition & Fabrication

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated back mount. Printing on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern and contemporary rendering

Parcours

Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a writer-composer artist career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. Lead singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
