Description from the seller

David Law

Photographer-artist – Creator of Contemporary Imagery

Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on sight, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series dedicated to store-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extended this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these motionless models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.

New Series – Walls of Legends

This series pays homage to iconic figures who have marked history, music, cinema and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to the essentials, captures in a few powerful contrasts an instantly recognizable identity. Realized with contemporary digital tools and then transposed into a stencil aesthetic, the works belong to the street art tradition, between spontaneity and mastery of gesture. Deep black and raw surfaces evoke direct intervention on the wall, while imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination.

Career

Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
