Keil belonged to the first generation of the Junge Wilde (Berlin). Drastik, Dynamik and garish colorfulness already distinguish his early works, which can be regarded as testimonies to the early phase of West German Neo-expressionism. During his stays on Mallorca, where he was often a guest in Joan Miró’s studio, Keil understood how poetic associations relate to Mediterranean colorfulness. He now lives and works on Mallorca.
