Very authentic sleeping blanket from the Shahsavan nomads.
The fabric consists of 6 vertical bands about 27 cm wide. It was woven on a narrow loom. (see photo).
It was used as a sleeping blanket even for 2 people!
One can see the creativity and playfulness of the weaver in the occasional weaving of other motifs. Or does it point more to imperfect execution in following Islamic rules?
The rougher band around the blanket was used as extra protection during use.
In very good condition, only a few signs of wear.

Zeer authentiek slaapdeken van de Shahsavan nomaden.
Het weefsel bestaat uit 6 verticale banden van ongeveer 27 cm breed. Het werd geweven op een smal weefgetouw. (zie foto).
Men gebruikte het als slaapdeken tot zelfs voor 2 personen!
Men ziet de creativiteit, speelsheid van de weefster in het soms inweven van andere motieven. Of wijst het eerder naar het niet perfect maken in navolgeling van de Islamitische regels.
De ruwere band rond het deken deed men als extra bescherming bij gebruik.
In zeer goede staat, alleen enkele gebruikssporen.
