Dimensions: 50 × 62 cm (with frame)
Otto Gampert is a Swiss artist active at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, known mainly for his landscapes and plein air drawings. His production is part of the European naturalistic tradition, with particular attention to the study of light and atmosphere.
His works, often executed in pencil or with light techniques, are distinguished by a sensitive rendering of the landscape and a great mastery of the stroke, capable of translating with precision both the details of vegetation and climatic variations. His work reflects an interest in the rural world and in a poetic vision of nature, typical of Swiss artistic culture of the period.
The present drawing represents a rural landscape with houses immersed in greenery, built through a balanced composition and a refined use of shading. The sky, particularly elaborate, animates the scene and creates an effective contrast with the calm of the foreground.
Mounted under a passe-partout and framed.
There is on the back the framer’s stamp “Boutique du Cadre, Nyon”.
Good overall condition.
