Albert Caullet was a Belgian painter who was born in 1875 in Kortrijk and died in 1950 in Schaarbeek. He was a painter, draftsman and watercolorist. His oeuvre consists of still lifes, village and town views and landscapes. His style is best described as impressionistic or romantically-realistic. Trained at the academy in Kortrijk and later at the Academy in Antwerp under F. Van Leemputten. He realized, among other things, landscapes, village views, scenes with livestock. He stayed in 1940 at Sables-d’Olonne and painted there a few harbor and coastal scenes. He worked from 1946 to 1949 in England. His style can be located between impressionism and romantic realism. From the press: ‘He made his animals move in an engaging landscape with a subtle play of light. He projected horses, cows and sheep in village views and showed interest in the characteristic aspects of the industrial Leie or the Heulebeek landscapes.’ He became a teacher and was a temporary director at the Academy in Kortrijk.
