Mario Vellani Marchi (1895-1979) - Volti

Mario Vellani Marchi (1895-1979) born in Modena, studied there at the local Academy of Fine Arts where he was a pupil of Giuseppe Graziosi and Pio Semeghini. In 1924 he was invited to participate in the Venice Biennale, and in the following years he would return to take part in eleven more editions. Moving from a classical approach, he reaches a more poetic and personal expressive mode, motivated by proximity to the so-called 'Burano School' and his Venetian friend Carlo Dalla Zorza.
