Teak, suar - Indonesia - 20th century

Set of three hand-carved wooden masks from Bali (Indonesia).

The masks depict traditional mythological figures, including Ganesha (Hindu god with an elephant head) and 2 Barong-style figures. The Ganesha is made from heavier teak wood, the remaining masks from suar wood.

The masks are richly detailed and decoratively carved, with beautiful natural wood grain.
