Description from the seller

This exceptional and extremely rare NOKI classic racing motorcycle from 1978 is a true piece of motorsport history.

Not a replica, not a reconstruction, but an authentic machine with a proven racing history at the highest level.

In 1978 this motorcycle was ridden by Wulf Gerstemaier during the legendary Isle of Man TT – one of the most demanding and prestigious road races in the world.
There he achieved an impressive 18th place, a performance that underscores the quality and reliability of this machine.

The heart of this racer is formed by a Yamaha TZ350 production race engine, at the time the standard for competitive two-stroke performance. This block is known for its raw power, immediate throttle response, and pure race character.

The chassis was built by Norbert Kienzler (NoKi), a name that among enthusiasts is synonymous with innovative and high-quality frame constructions. The geometry and balance of this machine are exceptional, partly thanks to a unique design in which the rear swingarm pivots at the height of the drive sprocket. This ingenious system keeps the chain tension constant, resulting in optimal traction and stability – a principle later used by top manufacturers such as Bimota.

Furthermore, the engine is equipped with only top components that at the time were among the absolute best:
- PVM race wheels for minimal rotating mass and maximum maneuverability.
- AP Lockheed brakes front and rear, guaranteeing powerful and reliable braking performance.
- Ceriani GP fully adjustable front fork for optimal control and feedback.
- PVM triple clamps for extra stiffness and precision in steering behavior.

Everything about this machine exudes pure racing: lightweight, uncompromising and built with one goal – speed.

This NOKI is not only a rare sight but also a special collector’s item for the true enthusiast of classic racing, two-stroke power, and technical innovation. Machines with this history and these specifications rarely come to market.

A unique opportunity to own a piece of pure motorsport history.

If needed, we can gladly assist with transport, within the EU or worldwide.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
