Marcel Niquet was born in 1889, at a time when French painting was undergoing a deep transformation, between academic heritage and Impressionist audacity. Trained in a context where rigorous drawing remains the foundation of all artistic learning, he developed an early taste for careful observation of reality.
Over the course of his career, Niquet moved toward a sensitive painting, attached to landscapes, everyday scenes, and luminous atmospheres. His work bears witness to a balance between tradition and modernity: a measured touch, a strong sense of composition, and a often warm palette. Not seeking rupture, he consistently explores variations of light, the nuances of the seasons, and the poetry of simple places.
Active during the first half of the 20th century, he lived through two wars that profoundly marked his generation. Yet his work remains resolutely oriented toward serenity and contemplation. He exhibited in regional or Parisian salons, where his classical yet lively style found a loyal audience.
Marcel Niquet died in 1968, leaving behind a discreet but sincere body of work, representative of a French painting committed to the beauty of daily life. Today, his paintings interest lovers of landscapes and intimate scenes, bearing witness to an attentive and deeply humane view of his era.
