Description from the seller
No reserve price — the auction starts open.
A striking decorative centrepiece in cobalt blue hand-blown glass, set in a wrought iron stand with arched handle and applied oak leaf motifs.
The glass is intense, deeply saturated cobalt blue. The ruffled rim is irregular — each wave slightly different from the next, the signature of mouth-blown production.
The pontil mark on the base is unpolished. Micro-bubbles are visible in the glass body. These are not defects. They are the evidence of how this was made.
The wrought iron stand is worked by hand. The oak leaf elements are cast and applied individually. The overall composition — blown glass held in worked iron — is a pairing typical of high-quality Italian decorative production of the 20th century, and rarely found intact as a complete set.
