Biography: JonOne (French-American, born in 1963 in New York), renowned for graffiti-influenced works, was born in Harlem, where the colorful, elaborate graffiti art evolved. He began creating graffiti of his own name with a childhood friend from the age of 17. In 1984, he founded the Graffiti 156 All Starz collective to bring graffiti artists’ passions together.
After moving to Paris in 1987, he began working as a canvas painter in a studio. He quickly established himself in Parisian art circles with his canvas works, was exhibited in 1990 at Gallery 45 in Berlin, and participated in the Graffiti Paris exhibition, where his work is presented on a permanent basis. His works have achieved some of the most important auction results in the graffiti world.
