Eliza Kołodziej's oil on canvas titled Old Van, an original 2026 Symbolism night-scene work, 40 by 50 cm, hand-signed on the back, in excellent condition, ready to hang, from Poland, with a certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
Eliza Kołodziej (b. 2000, Poland)
“Old Van”, 2026
Oil on canvas
40 × 50 cm (unframed, ready to hang)
It was late evening. The road was almost empty when the headlights caught an abandoned van standing near the edge of a forest. Its surface was dull, worn, clearly marked by time. Ahead of it, a single window in a distant building was lit – sharply, almost too clearly – cutting through the darkness of the trees behind.
The scene is painted from the perspective of being inside the car, suspended between motion and stillness. The headlights reveal only fragments: the guardrail, the van, the narrow strip of road. Everything beyond remains unclear. The van’s windows are blurred, unreadable – you can’t see inside, yet your attention is pulled toward it anyway. The composition relies on tension between limited visibility and imagination, with a small, isolated light confronting a vast surrounding darkness.
Signature: hand-signed on the back
Condition: excellent condition
Provenance: directly from the artist’s studio
Eliza Kołodziej is a Polish painter and MFA graduate (2025) from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where she completed her diploma with the highest distinction. Her practice focuses on liminal urban spaces and post-human atmospheres, combining traditional painting with a strong sense of material tension and psychological unease.
She has exhibited her work at, among others, Bacalarte Gallery, A10 Gallery and the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. Her achievements include the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Scholarship and multiple Rector’s Scholarships for outstanding artistic performance.
The painting is ready to hang and will be delivered in secure, multi-layered packaging, insured and tracked to ensure its safety during transport. Each work comes with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity, confirming its originality.
