Two Mary Gregory style handblown glass vessels from the Bohemia region, Germany, dating to around 1850–1900, comprising a turquoise vase (14 cm high, base Ø8.5 cm, 614 g) with multicoloured enamel floral decoration and two small chips at the rim, and a jug (15 cm high, handle Ø10 cm, base Ø7.5 cm, 299 g) with white enamel child motif and a hobnail-like surface, plus a small fissure near the handle.
Description from the seller
This lot features two "Mary Gregory" style glassware pieces made most likely around the second half of 19th century in the Bohemia region. Handpainted in white enamels with victorian characters, both vessels were handblown in the traditional techniques while presenting irregularities and pontil scars under their base. The turquoise vase has thick walls and polycrome enamels were used for flower decoration. Its condition is good, with two minor chips at the upper edge. The jug was designed with circular formations covering its surface, similar to a hobnail pattern of dew drops krugs from 1800s and the white enamel paintings portray a small child standing next to a tree. Its condition is good, having a small fisure, in the region of the handle, where sometimes cracks form in production while the handle is attached to the body. This set can be a lovely addition to a victorian style or Mary Gregory glassware enthusiast. The detailed photos are part of the description and can be used as an accurate reference.
