Photographer Mehdi Nédellec visited Mali in February 2011. He settled for a time in a small village near Debekurumba, north of Nioro du Sahel, not far from the Mauritanian border. Firstly he observed the daily life of his inhabitants with respectful attention, showing interest in their customs, their activities, relationships and exchanges that underscore the existence of a small rural community. Immersion phase. Gradually he earned the trust of the people and succeeded in integrating himself while explaining the purpose of his trip and his approach as a portrait photographer. Mehdi returned from this stay with a series of portraits that are fragments of the life of this small community.
