Tin box (2) - Metal

This antique box with an underplate is an example of Asian lacquerwork, from Japan in the 19th century, seen in the detailed images of crane birds. The object shows features of maki-e, a technique in which gold powder is sprinkled onto wet lacquer to create decorative effects.
