Ceramic vase by Teraike Shizuto (寺池 静人), Japan, dating to 1950–1960, with a pale cream‑white glaze, a rounded body, narrow neck and dark green leaf motifs around the shoulder; 22.5 cm high, 13 cm wide and deep, weighing 1700 g, in good condition with small signs of aging.

Description:
This vase by Teraike Shizuto(寺池 静人) has a soft rounded body with a narrow neck and small mouth, giving it a calm and elegant silhouette. The surface is finished in a pale cream-white glaze with a delicate, slightly textured appearance. Around the shoulder, dark green leaf-like motifs are arranged with fine reddish-brown linework, creating a quiet botanical design.
The decoration feels restrained but graceful. The contrast between the light body and the dark leaves gives the vase a refined modern Japanese ceramic character, while the gentle rounded form keeps the overall impression warm and approachable. It would be suitable for a single flower, a small branch, or simply as a decorative studio ceramic piece.
About the artist:
Teraike Shizuto 寺池 静人 is a Japanese ceramic artist born in Kyoto in 1933. He studied under Kusube Yaichi and first entered the Nitten exhibition in 1955, later becoming independent in the Kiyomizu ware district in 1966. He is known for decorative ceramic works using flower and bud motifs, and for developing his own glaze expression called Yūtekisai(釉滴彩), inspired by the sparkle of water droplets on flowers after rain. He received the Japan Art Academy Prize in 2013 and was recognized as a Kyoto City Person of Cultural Merit in 2018.
