Le Yack signed by the artist, Leopard on the Grand – 100% Handmade, a unique oil on canvas work, 60 x 80 cm, France, 2023.
Description from the seller
Oil painting. Unique work. Canvas handmade, oil and acrylic paint. 60x80 cm
A leopard sits atop a mahogany grand piano in a living room with open bay windows looking over Los Angeles at sunset. The city sprawls below—skyscrapers, palms, golden hills—while the big cat, perfectly still, surveys the horizon as if the city belonged to him. What is striking is his complete lack of worry. He is not displaced here. It is the rest that is.
Le Yack constructs a surreal image without ever forcing the hand. No distortion, no exaggeration—just the perfectly painted coexistence of two worlds that should not have met: wild nature and Californian luxury, animal brutality and the refinement of a Steinway. The sunset light bathes the scene in a warm orange that unifies the leopard’s fur, the piano’s finish, and the LA sky in the same incandescent palette.
This is a painting about power—one that does not justify itself, one that simply settles in and waits.
