Title: “You”
Description:
The canvas opens like an indistinct horizon, where sea and sky seem to merge in an unexpected palette of deep browns, evoking the nuances of coffee—from almost black espresso to the milky tones of a cappuccino. Nothing is literal, but everything suggests a transfigured seascape, as seen through a memory or a dream.
The “sea” is discernible in broad horizontal movements, fluid strata where paint runs and blends, creating waves without precise contours. In places, the material thickens into dark reliefs, reminiscent of heavy swells, while lighter, almost foamy areas lighten the composition, like foam reinvented in shades of cream and caramel.
The “sky,” meanwhile, is only a gentler breath in the upper part of the canvas: translucent, diluted veils, where the brown fades toward luminous beiges. A fine horizon line, barely perceptible, trembles between these two spaces, blurring all boundary.
More nerve-quick gestures — scratches, splashes, oblique lines — cut across the surface, evoking the sea wind, yet never leaving this warm, earthy chromatic register. This creates a singular tension: a seascape, usually associated with blue and coolness, becomes here dense, enveloping, almost gustatory.
The overall atmosphere is both soothing and mysterious, as if the ocean had been filtered through the sensory memory of coffee — an interior landscape, where the gaze wanders in a liquid, infinite warmth.
Good luck.
