Title: In Monet's Garden.
Description :
Entitled “In Monet's Garden,” the canvas does not seek to faithfully represent a place, but to capture its diffuse impression, like a memory dissolving into color. The pictorial space is organized in vibrant, juxtaposed brushstrokes, where greens unfold infinitely—from gentle to deep—punctuated by bursts of pinks, yellows and pale blues.
Nothing is clearly defined, and yet everything evokes a garden in full breath. The shapes seem to bloom without precise contours: color masses suggest flowers, foliage, perhaps even reflections of water, like a distant echo of the pools dear to Claude Monet. But here, the reference transforms—the impressionist strokes loosen from their figurative anchor to become almost gestural, close to lyrical abstraction.
Light plays a central role: it does not come from an identifiable source, but emanates from the canvas itself. Lighter areas seem to vibrate, as if the sun filtered through imagined vegetation. In places, the painting is light, diluted to transparency; elsewhere, it thickens, creating reliefs that catch the eye and rhythm the surface.
The eye moves around without a fixed anchor, invited to lose itself in this profusion of color, like a stroll with no destination. The “garden” then becomes interior—a space of sensation rather than description, where the memory of nature blends with emotion.
The work pays homage without imitating, evoking the spirit of a place more than its form, and leaving the viewer free to invent their own landscape.
Good luck.
