Description from the seller

Chema Madoz - The Form in Space
Silver gelatin print - hand-signed - 85/100 - 2000
Photograph from my private collection by the great and well-known photographer Chema Madoz
in a 40 cm high by 50 cm wide mat, hand-signed by the artist.
Chema Madoz - "The Form in Space".
In this space I will comment on Chema Madoz's work in which an element of form appears.
In this piece, the projection element is noticeable, easily recognizable by the perspective of the dirt road that contains the arrow in the middle. This road indicates the depth of the image and becomes narrower the farther away it is.
CHEMA MADOZ
Chema Madoz (Madrid, 1958) is one of the Spanish artists with the greatest national and international recognition in contemporary photography. During the 1980s the photographs carry a theatrical and surreal air.
With a certain Magritte influence. From the 1990s onward, Madoz begins to do away with the idea of chance and replaces it with a recreation of mental images. He stops using external elements such as natural light or models and begins to develop the concept of objects from black and white. He maintains careful lighting and simplicity in their presentation.
The subjective function of the viewer's gaze, together with the use of a more elaborate and cryptic language, will be the constant theme in his photography.
His work has been shown in numerous galleries, museums, and art centers nationally and internationally. He has been awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts (2019) and the Aula de las Metáforas Award, the National Photography Prize by the Ministry of Culture, and the PhotoEspaña Prize.
