Description from the seller

Large Akazu-yaki (Seto Ware) Platter - Dynamic Plum Blossom Design - 31cm

Description
This is a stunning large Japanese platter (O-zara) of Akazu-yaki (赤津焼), a historic ceramic style originating from Seto City, Aichi Prefecture.

Design & Technique:
The platter features a powerful and artistic representation of plum blossoms (Ume). The motifs are hand-painted using white slip over a rich, deep iron-black glaze (Tetsu-yu). The bold, calligraphic brushstrokes exhibit the mastery typical of traditional Japanese kiln-ware.

Unique Features:
The reverse side showcases distinctive glaze "drips" or finger-painted wave patterns around the rim, an aesthetic hallmark of the Akazu tradition.

Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or visible signs of restoration.

Note:
This lot includes the ceramic platter only. No original wooden box (Tomobako) or stand is included.
