A wooden Batara Indra sculpture signed by Rema Tantra Gallery Mas Bali from Indonesia, in the Art Deco style, measuring 20.5 cm high, 11.5 cm wide and 7 cm deep, with the figure in a meditative pose on a double lotus throne and in good condition.
Description from the seller
Batara Indra wood carving signed by Rema Tantra Gallery Mas Bali. Bali, Indonesia circa 1960-1970
Beautiful decorative Balinese wood carving, of top quality. It probably depicts the Hindu deity Batara Indra (or simply Indra). In Balinese mythology, Indra is the god of the heavens, rain and thunder.
Pose: The figure is depicted in a meditative pose (sometimes also called the "Buddha pose") on a double lotus throne. The lotus symbolizes purity and a divine origin in Hindu tradition.
Style: The slender lines, refined details in the crown and the elongated fingers point to the influence of the Art Deco movement on Balinese art. This style developed from the 1930s when Western artists such as Rudolf Bonnet and Walter Spies settled in Bali.
Material: Such figures are often carved from high-quality tropical woods such as suar wood or teak.
Dimensions: 20.5 cm high, 11.5 cm wide, and 7 cm deep.
Condition: in good condition with minimal signs of wear.
Photos are part of the description.
These were taken under artificial lighting, the color may vary.
It will be well packaged, and sent by registered mail.
