Dorothy Menpes / Mortimer Menpes - Venice - 1904

"VENICE"!! A rare volume, the very first edition of 1904 with texts by Dorothy Menpes accompanied by 100 color plates inserted out of text, protected by (talking) tissue guards reproducing watercolors and tempera by Mortimer Menpes during a trip to Venice, hardcover binding in cloth with titles and gold tooling on the front board and on the spine, decorations impressed dry on the front board and on the spine, slight signs of wear to the binding at the corners and edges with some stains, the spine a little faded but a beautiful copy – see photos. Inside, very light foxing scattered but the text mostly very clean. Illustrations in excellent condition with tissue guards, some a bit stained. Rarity.
