Laphroaig Cairdeas 2015 – Limited Edition Whisky Celebrating the Distillery's 200th Anniversary
Laphroaig Cairdeas is a special bottling released annually for the Feis Ile festival. The 2015 release also commemorated the 200th anniversary of the Islay distillery Laphroaig. It matured for 11 years in ex-bourbon casks in Warehouse No. 1 and was bottled at a robust 51.5% ABV. The distillery opted not to use chill filtration.
Nose: The Laphroaig whisky presents itself to the nose with notes of peat smoke and brine. It also offers hints of seaweed and citrus fruits.
Tasting: On the palate, the single malt whisky unfolds with notes of peat smoke and charred oak. It also tastes of earthy notes and sweet vanilla. Subtle spices emerge and mingle with dark chocolate.
Finish: The finish is long and lingering. The Islay whisky bids farewell with a sweet smokiness. After drinking, it leaves behind maritime impressions and a touch of salt and iodine.
