Description of the work:
A life-sized audio cassette — or almost — invades the entire surface of the canvas. Black, striped, worn as if it had been dragged at the bottom of a glove compartment for thirty years. On its handwritten label: "1985 Mixed Tape Vol.1 Side A — Raw Art ! Music". And everywhere, pasted, scribbled, superimposed — the ghosts of an entire decade.
David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust. Michael Jackson in a red Thriller jacket. Culture Club. U2. AC/DC Back in Black. Hells Bells. The yellow smiley Please Rewind. Names handwritten as they used to be written at the time, ballpoint pen on Scotch tape labels: Madonna, Prince, A-Ha, Wham!, Depeche Mode. And at the bottom of the canvas, in white graffiti-like letters: Street Music. Vibes.
Le Yack does not paint the 80s — he resurrects them in layers. The print forms the background, the painting builds volume and matter, the Posca traces inscriptions and outlines with the precision of a graffiti artist and the freedom of a child labeling his cassettes. It is a work of collective memory — that of a generation that recorded its songs on the radio by pressing pause at the right moment.

The artist Le Yack's style is a bold fusion of pop art, street art, and classical and modern painting. He uses his graphic tablet to create unique visual universes, merging various digital resources and exploring a variety of artistic techniques (Photoshop software and drawing on Procreate and various copyright-free image resources and AI).

Le Yack, emerging French pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, known as Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design (ESAD) of Orléans. He is a artistic director in publishing and web. Instagram @leyack45. He is exhibited in a network of about forty galleries in France, Germany, Belgium, United States.
Inspired by classical and modern painting, Le Yack brings a contemporary look to his creations by incorporating iconic elements of pop and urban culture. His works are characterized by bright colors, dynamic shapes, and expressive compositions.
The artist also explores different forms of artistic production. Some of his works are reproduced in series on primed canvases, thus creating limited editions accessible to a wider audience. Other works are created as unique paintings on canvas, adding an exclusive and authentic dimension to his collection.
Le Yack's style reflects a fusion between traditional art and the endless possibilities offered by digital technology. His innovative approach and skillful use of digital resources allow him to create original works that captivate the eye and invite reflection.
