Description from the seller

Unique Honda Dream find: Still in its original, unrestored condition. The first Honda model with an overhead cam. One of the most rare Honda motorcycles.

The 1957 Honda Dream ME-250 is a rare, historically important motorcycle that represents one of the last single-cylinder “Dream” models before Honda switched to twin-cylinder engines. Because Honda only officially began exporting to the U.S. in 1958, this 1957 model was never officially sold outside Japan, making it an exceptionally rare find for collectors.

This Dream is still in original paint: Extremely rare and historic Honda for the serious collector or museum.

The Honda is nearly complete.
Rare original parts are still well preserved, see the photos.
Gear engagement works.
The engine block is seized.
The fuel tank is good and solid, little to no rust in the tank.
The bodywork, tank, exhausts, wheels, etc. are solid and not rotted.
Contact key is not present.

I purchased this Honda on 10-10-2019 from a Dutch collection (documents present).
Includes an invoice with frame number and engine number. No registration papers available beyond that.

Key Specifications:
Engine: 246cc air-cooled, four-stroke OHC single-cylinder.
Performance: Approximately 13–14 horsepower with a top speed touted at the time near 100 km/h.
Transmission: 4-speed rotary manual gearbox.
Chassis: Pressed-steel backbone frame and swingarm.
Suspension: Leading-link front forks and dual enclosed rear shocks.
Weight: 172 kg

It is estimated that fewer than 10 examples have been preserved in North American collections and museums; in Europe, this number is even unknown.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
