Description from the seller
Artistic Photography – Limited Print
Edition: 3/30
Format: 40/40 cm
This work reveals the interior of an old thermal establishment today left abandoned. The empty pool, marked by time, features blue tiling that is completely cracked and walls covered in peeling paint. The large arches and tall windows let in a soft, powdery light that brushes the worn surfaces.
Every detail carries the memory of the place: the falling paint, the deep cracks in the walls, the damp traces, the long shadows. It is a suspended scene, calm, almost sacred — a space where silence has replaced the cries and footsteps of yesteryear.
Natural light reveals the fragile beauty of the faded blues, the texture of the concrete, the lines of the basin. A fragment of time that persists despite oblivion.
Artist’s Statement
“I photograph these forgotten places as one gathers a fragile memory. I see in them a sincere, raw beauty, without artifice. This abandoned pool tells a story that ‘new’ places will never say: the passage of time, solitude, the silent memory.
In the cracked walls, I find my own flaws. In the light that still passes through these windows, I find hope.
I want to show that even what has been abandoned continues to exist, continues to touch, continues to live. True beauty is often where no one looks.”
— Tristan Mottier
