PSALTERIUM PARAPHRASIBUS – Lyon, 1542
Elegant and rare sixteenth-century specimen of the Psalterium Paraphrasibus illustrated, by Raynerus Snoygoudanus, printed in Lyon in 1542 by the Frellon publishers. Latin text with translation and paraphrase of the Psalms according to the tradition of Saint Jerome, accompanied by exegetical apparatus and commentaries of great interest for Renaissance humanistic and theological culture.
The volume features a typographic title page with a printer’s mark and text laid out in a clear humanistic layout. The content includes the entire Biblical Psalter, accompanied by paraphrases and explanations that facilitated study and meditation, making it a tool for both liturgical and didactic use.
Copy showing signs of use and aging (stains, browning, contemporary binding with evident wear and gaps), yet still solid and legible; 16.2x10.2 cm, pp.491,(5);
Last index leaf missing, first leaf detached only on the lower part, defect to the rear cover at the lower hinge, stains at the inner guide (see photo).
